Bitcoin Pulls Back from $81,000 to $79,400 as Gold Weakens; Only SOL and HYPE in the Green
Bitcoin fell 0.19% to $79,414 after touching $81,160 yesterday, triggered by a stronger dollar and weakening gold. The majority of altcoins are in the red except SOL (+1.61%) and HYPE (+2.08%).
Bitcoin opened the week by clearing $72,000, a level it had tested and failed three times in the prior ten days. What changed was the source of the bid. Order-flow data shows the buyer was spot, not perpetuals, and the settlement came through stablecoin rails rather than fresh fiat on-ramps.
Why this matters for a trader today
A move funded by leverage tends to reverse when funding flips. A move funded by stablecoin inflows is harder to shake out, because the capital is already in the system. That is the difference between a squeeze and a trend, and right now the structure reads as the latter.
Where the risk still sits
The macro overlay has not cleared. VIX at 14.1 and a 4.28% ten-year yield leave a risk-off cloud overhead. A soft equity session in the US could still pull crypto with it, regardless of on-chain strength.
